I was planning a deep sea fishing trip out of Gloucester, MA., and, since the boat leaves at 4:00AM and I was not familiar with the area, I thought it’d be wise to get there the day before and get a decent night’s sleep. The charter boat captain recommended The Sea Lion saying it was clean and comfortable. I called and explained that there would be five of us staying and we would only need one night. To make things more difficult, we would be staying the Saturday evening of Memorial Day Weekend. She explained that normally, there is a two day minimum and that weekend would be tough. But after some back & forth conversation and quite a bit of research on her part, she provided us with connecting rooms, with a kitchen for one night. The price for what we got was more than reasonable.

The rooms were perfect, clean, and spacious. The service was great and everything about the Sea Lion was to our liking. While the fishing was not all that great, the guys in our party said, “well, at least you picked a nice place to stay.” We’d recommend staying here and probably will for next year’s outing.

Having arrived in Gloucester for the 1st time ever, no plans & no place to stay (probably not recommended but it worked for us) the Sea Lion Motel was a fantastic find. The motel seems to have definitely been updated as everything is new, very comfortable and absolutely clean & accommodating (mattresses, linens, furniture, bathroom fixtures, sinks, tiles). The Customer Service was Fantastic! Everyone who worked there, the owner & all of the staff, were so friendly & accommodating w/ everything from motel amenities to tours (they secured our whale sight seeing tour for us as we were in a scramble for time) – we truly are grateful & appreciative. So 1st if you haven’t ever been Gloucester, MA then it’s time to go & 2nd definitely stay at the Sea Lion Motel- you will be very happy that you did.

I “kidnapped” my husband as a birthday gift for his 48th! I took him to the Sea Lion Motel, in Gloucester, MA. What a wonderful, totally delightful experience this motel was. The unit was an efficiency that included a living room area, full kitchen/dining room, full bath, and bedroom. The unit was so comfortable and we wanted for nothing in this “fully furnished ‘apartment’ unit”. The staff were knowledgeable concerning the surrounding attractions, such as where to go when the “locals” wanted to dine out; where to go to access the beach; where to go and find great shopping bargains. I would highly recommend this motel to single folks that want a quiet get-away; for “lovers” that want a quiet get-away; and for families, that just want to get-away!!

We rented the 1 bedroom cottage – spotless and comfy!! The staff was very accomodating and helpful. They even ordered pizza for delivery for us. The pool was always clean and our young children (4 yrs. and 1 yr.) loved it. A very family orientated place, in fact we met people who were staying in the 2 bedroom cottage next to us that lived just 30 mins. from our hometown. Our kids played together our entire stay. The grounds were well maintained and you could tell they took pride in their establishment. A great place to vacation. Good Harbor beach is exquisite – not too rough for little kids but definately would keep older kids entertained also. The beach is SOOO sandy I didn’t even make the kids wear their water shoes. There is a state park nearby with a great playground and ice cream parlor within walking distance – a perfect evening activity!! 4o mins from Boston – we visited the aquarium – was OK but crowded on the day we choose to go. We ate at Captain Carlos – a great restaurant near the fishing docks. Good food relaxed atmoshere, pub style, kid friendly. We will be returning next year and will be staying at the Sea Lion (2 bedroom cottage next time). Overall – a great quiet, relaxing vacation – beats the crowded hustle of the Cape. Would highly recommend.

We had our wedding in Gloucester in early July, and the Sea Lion could not have been more accommodating for our family and friends. We stayed in a suite in the main house and were pleasantly surprised by the large space, cleanliness and beautiful views of the beach. The suite was large enough for 7 women to get ready and have lunch on the day of the wedding!

Our other friends stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage, which was perfect for our weekend and would be great for a family for an extended stay. It even had it’s own little yard out back! Many of our guests stayed in the standard rooms and efficiencies and everyone was very happy with their stay.

Mona and her staff could not have been more helpful with delivering gift bags to rooms for our guests and answering any questions or concerns we might have had. They made our wedding weekend that much better.

We will definitely head back soon – maybe even later this summer!

The rooms are very comfortable, especially the bed. We woke up feeling very refreshed. The location between Gloucester and Rockport is perfect. The staff were very nice and helpful. The price was very reason to boot. We would recommend The Sea Lion!

This quiet Inn, located in Gloucester, has many features that are quite attractive such as modest price, continental breakfast, swimming pool and newer furnishings. It is conveniently located for the downtown as well as the beach.
